Global Warming Policy Foundation is being challenged for its charity status – it is not a charity, it is a lobby group for fossil fuels

For those of us who are sane, the Global Warming Policy Foundation is an embarrassment to the UK.

Its stated aims are aims are to challenge “extremely damaging and harmful policies” envisaged by governments to mitigate anthropogenic global warming.

This challenge seems highly justified.

Definition: A charity is an organisation with specific purposes defined in law to be charitable – and is exclusively for public benefit.

The Global Warming Policy Foundation does not fall under this definition even if an incredibly generous person were to look. The GWPF is not working for the public good, indeed it is doing quite the opposite. The GWPF does not deny that global warming is happening (how can it without looking stupid?) it simply suggests that humans are not causing it. Given this is the conclusion that has been reached by scientists around the world the GWPF is working against the public good.

As such yes the Global warming Policy Foundation is not a charity. Far from it. It is a lobbying group that is representing a group which are making money by going directly against the interests of people on earth.

As such any person who continues to associate with them – Steve Baker along with any other conservative MPS should not be able to hold a seat. Forget being voted out, it should be against the rules – we have had deniers of global warming play on the doubt for 50 or more years but now it is undeniable.
