The lightyear one is an incredible car. It is a highly efficient electric car, and gets over 440 miles from a battery smaller than the one in the long range tesla 3 which only has a range of 353.
This is partly because it is an incredibly efficient car – each wheel has its own, in wheel, motor. However, even more exciting, the car is covered in high efficiency solar panels – it has 5 square meters of solar panels, which is allow between 25 and 45 miles on solar power alone.
Given that this range is well over the average commute in most countries, this car could be one which only needs plugging in when you are going to be going on a road trip.
Now the lightyear one is an extremely expensive car, with its European pricing sitting at 149,000 euros – though they are only going to make 946 anyway.
However, perhaps more impressive, the company is working towards building its next model due to be released in 2023 and priced at around 50,000 euros.
The carbon footprint of electric cars is so much lower than that of fossil fuel cars, but this project shows that car carbon footprint can be even lower.
