And another beaver reintroduction in the UK-this time Exmoor national park

Only lying about an hour North of Otterton, one of the places that the Devon beavers have started to call home, Exmoor national park authorities have reintroduced a few beavers-translocated from the population in Scotland. Having already created a dam and a wonderful instant wetland, it would appear that they are feeling right at home.

Wild beavers building dams on Exmoor

Having already created Wetlands by for me their dam, whole is not a large structure it seems to be doing a good job. There has already been there significant increase in biodiversity of the site, with a significant increase in amphibians and invertebrates and one visitor even spotting a kingfisher.

These beavers are not living fully wild, having been released into a 2.7 acre enclosure. We should only hope that this is a first step, and that the Exmoor national park authorities, allow the beavers to spread naturally and therefore have an even greater benefit on the park.
