For many people they will scrimp on what they sleep on. While in many places you can sleep on a very thin item and be comfortable, it is now possible to travel with something very light and still be comfortable. There are essentially 3 different types I will list
Roll mats- rather like yoga mats, these are light weight and quick to unroll, but only give a centimeter or two of padding. New advances means that these can be partially inflated too.
Tube Airbeds- These are airbeds and consist of a row of tubes that run the length of the bed. Each one only needs a couple of breathes to fill, so it is quickly inflated.
Airbeds- These are the most comfortable, giving you a significant mattress. For some couples, these are hard to sleep on together, as any movement by one party can be transferred to the other. It is also worthwhile buying an electric pump as otherwise it can take some time to inflate.
