Finland
Finland is a country in Northern Europe, sharing border with Sweden to the West, Norway to the north, and Russia to the west. It declared its independence from Russia in December 1917 (Russia invaded in 1809).
The wolf population is 300, though this is the highest for a century, and modeling suggests that it needs a population of 500 to be genetically viable. As recently as 2017 the population was 150-170 within the country. Wolves are regularly migrating from Russia into Finland (and on into Norway and Sweden).
There are roughly 1500 bears in the country (some estimates put this number at 2000 or more) though as with elsewhere they are shy and therefore rarely encountered. There are a large number of bear hides, and while it is likely that some if not all were once used for hunting, now only 100 permits are given. One should be careful when bear watching here, to not support hunting hides in their down time.
