Montenegro

Montenegro is a relatively small country in south-eastern Europe. Given its position, it still hosts populations of bears (no more than 130) wolves (727) and the Balkan lynx (a subspecies of the Eurasian lynx) around 40 but as the picture above suggests, there is also a section of the Danube delta within the country – one of the best birding areas in the whole of Europe.

As such, this is a good country to visit if interested in wildlife. As the country is only around 2/3 the size of Wales (around 13,000 square km) , and being a relatively compact country (rather than long and thin) it would be possible to visit much of it, in a relatively short period of time.

Do get in touch if you work in this field within the country. We are eager to add useful links.
