Around the world, ecosystems are not functioning properly. In the UK deer numbers have greatly increased, and without predators creating a atmosphere of fear, are increasingly causing problems from car collision to crop damage and many more.

This is a problem repeated around the world.

Do we want to live in ecosystems devoid of predators, because they may occasionally damage human property, or do we wish to allow ecosystems to operate as they have for millions of years, with minimal human intervention.

In the west, many areas have missed their predators for years decades or in the UK centuries. Should we be calling for reintroductions to be made, as well as allowing animals to return to old haunts naturally? There will be problems to overcome, but the negatives should be far outweighed by the positives.

What are your views? Discussions on proposed reintroductions, and returns welcome.
