Apart from a range of opossums and armadillos, new world porcupines, along with squirrels; and a wide range of bats; a wide range of cats which incude Jaguarundi, Ocelot, Margay, Cougar though the biggest cat that once lived here is considered locally extinct. Various raccoons live here along with coatis, and skunks, and several species of peccary
Two species of sealion are found in the country – both South American sealion and Californian sealion.
27% of the country is forested, though only around 13% is native, with around 9% being coffee plantations.
