Basilan flying squirrel

Also known as the Philippine flying squirrel, the Palawan flying squirrel or tapilak is a species of rodent in the family Sciuridae. It is endemic to the Philippines.

Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forests.

Its population is decreasing as time goes on. It is a nocturnal species, and is mainly being destroyed by deforestation. It should be noted that its name is misleading, as it does not really fly, but instead glides between trees.

It is listed as near threatened, largely as a result of its forest home being destroyed.

It should be noted, that the below video does not feature this kind of flying squirrel. Never-the-less, it gives you some idea of their behaviour. Below that you will find a list of any articles that might be on the site, and below that will be any links which might be useful in trying to see this species for yourself.
