Paraguay

Paraguay is another relatively small country in South America. However, it is also packed with fascinating ecosystems. In the large Western Region are the Humid Chaco, Dry Chaco and Pantanal Matogrosense ecoregions. In the varied Eastern Region are the Campos Cerrados, Atlantic Forest of Alto Parana, Mesopotamian Grasslands and Central Paraguay ecoregions.

While it still has a large area of rainforest, little of this can be considered truly untouched. Having said this, it can still provide great interest for the animals that live there.

There are 184 recorded species of mammal that have been seen within this country. There are 20 species of armadillo
