Domestic Goats and their wild ancestors and relatives the Ibex and the Marhkor

The goat or domestic goat is a species of domesticated goat-antelope that is mostly kept as livestock. As such it will not be mentioned again. However, there still a healthy wild population of the species which the domestic goat was bred from, and 7 other closely related species.

It was domesticated from the bezoar ibex  of Southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. There are currently 8 recognized species of Ibex around the world. These are important prey species (snow leopards are known to have as much as 40% of their diet made up of the Siberian Ibex). As with many other similar species, I am not going to immediately fill in these pages. Should anyone wish to do this, feel free, please follow the simple layout that we have used each time.
