Commonly seen wildlife include wild boars, jackals and gazelles, and fennec foxes and Jerboras are seen quite often. There are also leopard and cheetah populations though these are pretty small. Caracals are also definitely found, along with african wild cats and some other small cat species. The only native monkey is the barbary macaque.

The seas off the coast of Algeria have a wide range of cetaceans, including

  • Common dolphin
  • Rough-toothed dolphin
  • Orca
  • Pilot whale
  • Pygmy killer whale
36% of the countries land is set aside for conservation, so there is much for visitors tosee.
