South Suand is one of the worlds newest countries, but it is not small, and before the violence it was known to have significant wildlife within its boundaries. A surprising quantity survived – including, surprisingly a migration, whose size is only beaten by the Serengeti-Mara migration. 

A total of 6 national parks currently exist in South Sudan (there is a 7th within disputed land between Sudan and South Sudan, in an area which was handed over in 2005 but Sudan retains some control- due to the confusion, smuggling and other illegal activities thrive in the area). There are also 13 game reserves; between the two systems, 11.1% or 90,000 square km of the country is given over to conservation. Should the country become safe, and resources built up, this could quickly become a significant part of the countries market.
