Mouse deer caught on camera trap for the first time in 30 years, long thought extinct

The mouse deer, a small antelope last seen 30 years ago in Vietnam, has been caught on camera trap again. Also known as the Silver-backed Chevrotain, having been seen on the camera trap, more were set up in the same region and they had many separate encounters with the mouse deer.

The local knowledge was used extensively in making this discovery and there is much effort to engage the local Village in the protection of this species. They are also excited to see what other species might have survived in this part of Vietnam, unknown to science.

Two more elephants found dead in Sumatra

The elephant populations of Borneo and Sumatra are highly important for the ecosystem they operate in. Unfortunately due to the human behaviour in the area their habitat is being cut up into smaller and smaller parcels of land. When they wander across unmarked arbitrary lines humans attack them.

The dishonesty of Google

Google has made a big show over the last few years of being active in reducing CO2 emissions and trying to avoid the worst of global warming. This is of course commendable, they have made an effort to offset all of their CO2 emissions.

However what seems to have come to light is that they have been funding significant announce of global warming denialism.

UK Local and National concerns conflict

Ever since David Cameron stated “I’ve had enough of all this green xxxx” (despite starting his Premiership with his hug a husky arctic trip) the conservative government has not considered reducing C02 emissions or fighting global warming as an important area to work on. Indeed having voted to leave the EU it is likely that they will be very little Parliament concentration left for this important fight in the next few years.

Climate change denial is a serious problem when trying to deal with global warming.

The problem is that the three different forms of climate denial often require different responses. While generally most, if not all, of the forms of denial do not stand up to any reasoned argument, they continue to be raised even by people who in other fields show a high level of intelligence. Few, however, are as all over the place as to use all three forms of denial.
